Manaaki Farmstay is a 56-acre farm at Purau Bay, Lyttelton Harbour. We are situated 1km from the beach at number 99 Purau Port Levy Rd .Our concealed driveway is opposite no 100. Drive approx 300 meters up the gravel driveway to double farm gates, here take the right fork to the house you will see in the near distance.
Things to remember our nearest petrol station is in Christchurch 30km away or Tai Tapu 25km away. On your way up to the House. You need to pass through two sets of farm gates..... Please leave all gates as you find them.

From CHRISTCHURCH CITY CENTRE (40minutes)
Take Colombo Street direction South towards the hills. This will change into Dyers Road from the Cashmere Hills with "The Sign of the Kiwi" at the summit. Coming down into Lyttelton Harbour go towards Diamond Harbour through Governors Bay, Allendale then Teddington. At Teddington the Wheatsheaf Tavern is on your right, at the turn off to Akaroa. Continue on in the direction of Diamond Harbour. As you come into Diamond Harbour at a small island follow the road to the right signposted Purau. Drive down the hill past the yachts on your left, over the small bridge, and follow the road to the right, direction Port Levy. We are 1 km further on from this point, on the left just past the 100 speed sign.
From CHRISTCHURCH AIRPORT (55minutes)
Turn right at the 2nd roundabout on highway 1 to go in the direction of Timaru and Akaroa. At Hornby , the road is parallel to the railway lines, and Highway one turns to the right in the direction of Timaru. Go across Highway 1 and continue straight. After about 1 kilometer, take the roundabout to the left for Highway 75 going to Akaroa. Turn here and travel through Halswell, Tai Tapu and Motukarara. After this “Blue Duck Cafe” (the old "Palmdale Cafe") is on the corner of the turn off to Gebbies Valley and Diamond Harbour.Turn left here, and travel through the valley and over the hill. You will come down into Lyttelton Harbour, to "The Wheatsheaf Tavern" on your left at a "T" junction. Turn right here, in the direction of Diamond Harbour As you come into Diamond Harbour at a small island follow the road to the right signposted Purau. Drive down the hill past the yachts on your left, over the small bridge, and follow the road to the right, direction Port Levy. We are 1 km further on from this point, on the left just past the 100 speed sign.
From the NORTH
Approx an hour and a half from Amberly. On the Motorway, after the Kiapoi exit, take the "Christchurch via Marshlands" exit, and follow the”Marshland” and ”Christchurch” signs. At the second round-a-bout which is on QEII Drive go in the “Lyttelton” direction which means you go left on the "R" Ring road, which is to the east...the sea side. From there follow the signs to Lyttelton (Route 74), go through the tunnel, and then immediately to the right, and follow signs for Governors Bay. Skirting around Lyttelton Harbour with the Port Hills on your right, and the harbour on your left, from Lyttelton it will take 35 minutes. You will go through the Maori settlement of Rapaki, Governors Bay, Allendale, and then come to Teddington. "The Wheatsheaf Tavern" is on your right at the turn-off to Akaroa, but keep on straight in the direction of Diamond Harbour As you come into Diamond Harbour at a small island follow the road to the right signposted Purau. From the SOUTH
From Highway 1 heading for Christchurch, turn right at Burnham, and head towards Lincoln. Continue through Lincoln to Tai Tapu, and turn right onto Highway 75 in the direction of Akaroa. Two kilometers past Motukarara, turn off the main road at the Blue Duck Café into the Gebbies Valley. Drive over Gebbies pass, and down to Teddington. At the T-Junction, marked by the Wheatsheaf tavern, turn right in the direction of Diamond Harbour As you come into Diamond Harbour at a small island follow the road to the right signposted Purau. Drive down the hill past the yachts on your left, over the small bridge, and follow the road to the right, direction Port Levy. We are 1 km further on from this point, on the left just past the 100 speed sign.
From ARTHURS PASS and WEST COAST
From Greymouth it is about four hours drive and from Castle Hill it will take approx. one and a half hours to Manaaki Farmstay. After going through Springfield and Darfield, you will go through the tiny village of Kirwee. 5.5 k from Kirwee there is well-marked turn-off to the right towards Highway 1 and Burnham. Be careful here. Turn to the left towards Burnham AFTER crossing the railway line. At Burnham (you will go across Highway 1 and through the University town of Lincoln. Continue on to Tai Tapu where you turn right onto route 75 in the direction of Akaroa. After Motukarara the Blue Duck Café is on your left where you turn off to go through Gebbies Pass. . Drive over Gebbies pass, and down to Teddington. Or come by boat using the Lyttleton Ferry to Diamond Harbour, an 8 minute ride. A call will ensure we meet the ferry.
